There are branding photoshoots… and then there are branding photoshoots. The kind that makes your heart beat a little faster because they feel like pure creative alignment. This one was all that and more. Set on Oʻahu’s North Shore, this shoot brought together Jill White and Dairy Boy for a concept that felt like a dream from the start: coastal cowgirl meets island soul.
Jill is not only someone whose style and presence I admire—she’s also a friend. So when she reached out about bringing this vision to life together, it felt like such an easy yes. She’s always embodied that free-spirited, sun-kissed vibe that blurs the lines between desert roots and beachy ease. And when you add Dairy Boy’s bold, retro energy into the mix? Magic.
What made this shoot so special wasn’t just the location or the concept—it was the trust. These are the projects I live for: built on shared vision, honest connection, and a mutual willingness to play, adapt, and create something real. Shoots like this remind me why I love brand photography so much—because when it’s done right, it’s not just about aesthetics, but about telling a story you can feel.

Behind the Scenes: Horses, Harsh Light, & High Vibes
Let me just say—this wasn’t your average branding photoshoot. Between the salty lenses, horses stepping into the tide (then deciding maybe not), and the kind of light most photographers run from, it was a day full of wild cards. But honestly? That’s my favorite kind of day. The kind where you get to lean into intuition, trust the process, and let the magic unfold in real time.
Taking horses into the ocean definitely added a layer of unpredictability. But those are the moments that light me up—adjusting on the fly, reading the light minute by minute, and finding beauty in the in-between. And yes—we shot in the middle of the day, with the sun high and harsh. It’s the kind of light that gets a bad rap, but I’ve always loved it. Harsh light isn’t something I avoid—it’s something I embrace. It asks you to get creative. To work with shadows, bold contrast, and movement. It brings texture and grit, and when used intentionally, it adds the good stuff you just can’t fake.

Bringing a Branding Photoshoot to Life
I think this shoot proves that the best images often come when you let go of control and just feel your way through it. We had a vision, of course—but it was a full-on creative dance—me, the camera, the ocean, and everything in between.
That’s the heart of my approach. I love crafting something that feels editorial and elevated, but never stiff. I want texture, emotion, and movement. I want you to feel the salt in the air when you look at the photo. I want every brand I work with to see themselves in the images—not a curated version, but the beautiful essence of who they are.
These are the shoots I live for. Where brand, place, and feeling come together in a way that’s raw and radiant. When all those elements align, that’s when the story comes to life.
